VFX Shot: Race Against the UFO

Sci-Fi movie VFX shot

This shot shows a police car veering off the road, narrowly escaping the chaos of a UFO crashing onto Earth. I created this scene as a personal experiment in Blender, focusing on fracture simulation and dust particle effects. The impact of the UFO was designed to create intense destruction, with every fragment of rubble and plume of dust contributing to the intensity of the moment. It was a great opportunity to blend creative storytelling with technical exploration, pushing my skills in destruction and environmental interaction.

The making off

An in-depth exploration of physical destruction and the intricate behavior of dust particles, focusing on how objects fracture, collide, and create dynamic environmental effects in a 3D space.

Once the destruction simulation was complete, I added the police car and UFO, carefully positioning them to interact with the chaos and enhance the scene’s dramatic impact.

Finally, I completed the scene by adding the remaining elements, such as crumbling buildings, scattered vehicles, road signs, and various debris. Each object was carefully placed to contribute to the sense of chaos and realism. The attention to detail in these final touches helped bring the entire environment together, creating a fully immersive setting.

This is the raw, unpolished render, captured straight from the scene without any textures or post-production enhancements. At this stage, the focus is purely on the composition, lighting, and overall structure, offering a glimpse into the foundational elements of the scene before any of the finishing touches—like texture mapping, color grading, and visual effects—are applied to bring it to life.
